The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Modifications Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated. Required Changes Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
